Dr. Scott Anderson of Suncoast ENT Surgical Specialists, a practice with offices in Tampa and Spring Hill, Fla., has won a new Reliance Medical exam chair on behalf of the practice for coming up with the oldest chair still in use in an ENT practice. Reliance, now a division of Haag-Streit AG (Bern, Switzerland), searched for the oldest chair in its “Durable is Beautiful” contest. Five additional entrants won Reliance exam stools.

The chair was manufactured for Reliance by F&F Koenigkramer in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1967. Anderson says it is “one of the best functioning we have owned.”
Although the contest has ended, Reliance Medical still invites feedback from any practices using its vintage exam chairs. The company can be contacted at www.haag-streit-usa.com/contact-us.aspx.
Reliance, located in Mason, Ohio, has been in operation since 1898; Haag-Streit, in business for 150 years, manufactures optical instruments for ophthalmologists and optometrists.
