While the importance of publication is recognized widely within the academic community, even those of us who publish extensively are surprised occasionally by the value of publication to our teaching mission.

While the importance of publication is recognized widely within the academic community, even those of us who publish extensively are surprised occasionally by the value of publication to our teaching mission. I thought that I had learned most of what there was to know about the teaching value of publication. However, the thirty-ninth book I wrote proved me wrong.
